Of course we think all of our products are special; we wouldn't sell them if we didn't. However, because we're so proud, we like to show off the really good ones.

On this page, we will feature a coffee and a tea that we think is especially good. This may be something new that we have just gotten in, or it may be something we feel deserves some extra attention. Either way, we hope that by calling attention to certain products as well as giving you some additional information, you will see why they're special too.

La Minita Costa Rican

Can a coffee be this perfect? Milder in acidity compared to some other Costa Rican coffees from the Tarrazú region. This coffee has a refined sweetness and balance in the cup. It's a very mild, bright coffee, with some spice, hints of cinnamon and anise, and with our lighter roasts an almondy roast taste with vanilla hints. The aromatics are sweet and clean. It's always an elegant, refined, clean cup.

The farm itself is a model of perfection in terms of technical standards and beauty. The coffee is milled and prepared meticulously and is not brokered by an indifferent third party, but by Hacienda La Minita themselves. It's also a model for how quality can sustain super-premium prices in a very unstable coffee market. The La Minita model is so successful that they begin to apply the same exacting standards to other coffees, and yielding premium prices.

Roobios and Roobios Blends

More than 300 years ago, Red Tea was a traditional drink of the indigenous inhabitants of the Western Cape in South Africa. The locals harvested the wild plants and produced tea by bruising the spiky leaves with wooden hammers and drying the fermented plants in the sun. The botanist Carl Humberg first reported the resulting beverage in 1772.

Since the early 1900's, Red Tea has been treasured as an elixir for the mind, body and spirit. This rich, red tea came from a wild plant of the legume family called Aspalathus Linearis which grew on the slopes of the beautiful Cederberg Mountains in Cape Town. They believed this tea to have tremendous healing powers, and it is known in South Africa as "the Miracle Tea." We feature a line of various blends using this wonderful herb.
