One of the world's oldest and most famous coffees. Deriving its name from the Yemeni port city of Mocha, it is thought that the trees from Mocha were transplanted from the Indonesian island of Java. There are several different regions of Yemeni coffees and we have chosen to carry the Ismaili. One of the rarest and most well-balanced of the wild Yemeni coffees, the Ismailis "assert themselves gently and never insist." The flavor can be described as winey, spicey, fruity and nutty, with a unique acidity that is smooth and sharp at the same time. Similar to a well-balanced Ethiopian, we find that the Ismailis produce a more consistent flavor from roast to roast.
